Lotte Jacobi & Lotte Reiniger
Exhibition at the Käthe Kollwitz Museum Berlin | January 22 to March 27, 2022
As part of its last special exhibition at its current location, the Käthe-Kollwitz-Museum is dedicated to the work of the photographer Lotte Jacobi and the animated film artist Lotte Reiniger. They successfully managed to assert themselves in the male-dominated art world. The special exhibition shows how their careers began in Berlin during the Weimar period and flourished until they emigrated in 1935. They meet for the first time in an exhibition and enter into a thematic and spatial dialogue.
Lotte Jacobi will be presented with her expressive portraits of well-known personalities from the art, theater, dance and film scene. The important, internationally known filmmaker Lotte Reiniger will be represented with silhouettes, storyboards, drawings and her silhouette films. Together, they make an exciting exhibition couple whose work doesn‘t require language and is understood interculturally.
