They came to Berlin in 1905 and founded their own image agency shortly after: Otto Haeckel (1872-1945) and Georg Haeckel (1873-1942) are among the most innovative and renowned press photographers of their time.
Their work includes expressive photo motifs from imperial times, World War I, and the Weimar Republic, extraordinary photos from every-day life and political events as well as war photography. The press photographers Georg and Otto Haeckel played a significant role in the development of photography in Germany. We pay tribute to this achievement with our Haeckel Project during which we digitised the complete inventory for today’s use. More than 10,000 original copies from glass plates were scanned with the highest quality and the subjects registered by text.
